Africanized, or “killer” bees can attack without provocation so it’s very important that you call us immediately if there is any indication of the presence of these pests. You can find them in garbage and trash containers, trees, sheds and garages, walls, porches, attics and utility boxes. If there are any abandoned vehicles, tree stumps or sheds on or near your property, there’s a chance that these killer bees are using it as their home.
For your safety, it’s very important that you do not try to remove them on your own or use rocks or sticks to try to dislodge them. If you wish to observe them, do so at a safe distance, preferably through a window.
If you are stung by a bee
If you are stung, first and foremost, don’t try to pull out the stinger as this often releases more venom into your skin. It’s best to use a dull knife or something with a similar edge like a credit card. In some cases Ice packs are recommend to help reduce the swelling caused by the sting, a paste made of baking soda can help.
Many people are allergic to bee stings so monitor your symptoms closely. Seek medical care if you notice:
• Dizziness
• Persistent pain or swelling
• Abnormal breathing
• Nausea or vomiting
• Tightness in throat or chest
